Nate HellerBusiness Intelligence Analyst | Customer Analytics | Data Storytelling
Transforming customer, operational, and performance data into actionable business intelligence through SQL, Power BI, Python, and real-world operational experience.
Analytics that respects the operations underneath.
I'm a Business Intelligence and Data Analytics professional currently completing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Management & Analysis with a concentration in Business Intelligence at Bellevue College.
My career began in customer success and technical support at DreamBox Learning, where I worked closely with educators, administrators, and internal teams to solve customer challenges. Over time, I became increasingly interested in the data behind those challenges, leading me into reporting, analytics, operational intelligence, and business process improvement.
Today I combine real-world business experience with technical skills in SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Python, MongoDB, and data visualization. I enjoy transforming complex datasets into meaningful insights that help organizations improve customer experiences, optimize operations, and make better business decisions.
My work focuses on connecting data to outcomes. Whether I'm building dashboards, analyzing customer behavior, designing reporting frameworks, or investigating operational trends, my goal is always the same: deliver clear, actionable insights that drive informed decision-making.
What that looks like in practice
- Built reporting frameworks used to identify customer pain points and operational trends
- Experienced translating technical findings into business-focused recommendations
- Skilled in SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Python, MongoDB, and data storytelling
- Combines real-world business experience with modern analytics techniques
Skills, organized by how I actually use them.
A mix of analysis, visualization, and the database / operational tooling that surrounds them.

Business Intelligence / Customer Analytics
Customer Support Analytics & Root Cause Identification
Reporting framework and case-classification process for a customer support organization handling tens of thousands of cases per quarter - connecting symptom to root cause to resolution and reframing how leadership understood recurring access issues.
Impact
The classification revealed that the majority of access-related cases traced to onboarding instructions and password confusion rather than authentication defects. Reframing the issue redirected effort from engineering escalations toward onboarding and documentation improvements - the fixes that actually moved the numbers.

Film Industry Analytics: Director Gender & Critical Reception
End-to-end analytics project combining IMDb and Metacritic data to test whether director gender is associated with measurable differences in critical reception, audience ratings, budgets, and ROI.
Impact
Female-directed films received ~10.5 higher Metacritic points on average (p = 0.003), with the effect holding (+10.19, p = 0.004) after controlling for description sentiment. The pattern appeared in 18 of 20 genres, suggesting it wasn't driven by category mix.

Tetra Master Win Probability Simulator
Monte Carlo simulator for the Tetra Master card game from Final Fantasy IX, which uses hex-encoded stats and class-based logic to determine battle outcomes. Surfaces hidden probabilities the game never tells the player.
Impact
Turns a hidden game mechanic into a usable decision tool - players can now see which card matchups favor them before committing a card they don't want to lose. A reminder that the same simulation pattern (decode rules → run many trials → report empirical rates) works for everything from game mechanics to business risk modeling.
